Generate ACH Pre-notes

This article documents how to submit your Pre-notes.

A pre note or prenotification is a zero dollar payment to validate the account and routing details of a bank account before debiting or crediting it.

Pre-requisites

  1. Bank Accounts - with ACH Configured

  2. Vendor - with ACH Configured

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Access the Pre-Notes function (Accounts Payable -> Payments -> ACH Pre-Notes)

    Any Vendor where the “Pre-Note Sent” flag is NOT checked will be displayed.

  2.  Select the Bank Account you wish to send Pre-Notes from/to.

  3.  Click the Create File button.
    This will create the ACH File in the file path as specified on the Bank Account Master’s ACH Settings.
    When processing has completed, a confirmation will appear:

    The Vendor’s setting of Pre-Note Sent flag will be automatically checked.
    The screen will be automatically refreshed, showing no Pre-Notes are pending.

  4.  The file can now be located and transmitted to the Bank.

  5.  If an error / returned transaction notification comes back from the bank, it will be necessary to modify the Vendor’s ACH Settings. When doing so, uncheck the Pre-Note Sent flag. This will queue this Vendor up for inclusion in the next Pre-Note file.
