Additive Programs
The Additive Program is the template to include additives in the feed plan.. For each plan you can specify additives and inclusion rates of the additive the flock will receive during an age range. Additives are added to the base feed which include medicating and non-medicating ingredients such as grit.
Feed Management → Additive Programs
Pre-requisites
Additives will need to be set up in Feed Components.
Code: Enter a unique code for the additive program
Description: Enter a description for the additive program
Status: Whether the program is currently active or inactive.
Industry Type: Select what industry type this additive program is for
Effective Date: Set multiple effective dates when a program changes any information. The feed plan will only utilize the program whose effective date falls within it's time period.
Additive Code | Feed Component Name or Product Code/Number |
Additive Name | Trade name of medication from Component Code |
Inclusion Rate | The inclusion rate in decimal |
Inclusion Rate UOM | The UOM of the inclusion rate |
Start Age | Age to start additive |
End Age | Age to end additive. Takes withdrawal into consideration for medication |
Withdrawal As Per Vet | Vet will decide on the withdrawal period |
Withdrawal Days | Withdrawals in days |
Active Ingredient | eg. 50 mg/kg |
Prescription (Yes/No) | Indicates if the additive originated from a prescription |
The additive program will then need to be applied to the flock that will utilize that program.
Flock Form --> Settings
The additive program can also be set on the Contract to use for flock defaults.
System → Contract → Defaults
Additive Program Updates
When a user updates a feed additive profile, the system will ask to push recalculations to each flock assigned to it. Without this functionality, users would have to run a report to determine what flocks are assigned to the profile, navigate to each, select their feed plan and execute a recalculate.
Recalculating the Feed Plans with Additive Updates
The user will now be prompted to recalculate associated feed plans whenever they update the additive profile. To edit these profiles, click on the "Additive Programs" button on the "Feed Management" menu of the navigation bar.
When the user makes any changes to effective dates or additive items, a prompt will appear on save. This prompt will list all pending and active flocks assigned to this feed profile. Flocks that have been saved with the "opt out" checkbox are included in a list below for your review. These flocks cannot be recalculated, as per their configuration, but the user can make note of them and review them on an individual basis.
By default all flocks in the first list are selected, and clicking "Accept" will recalculate all of them. Should you wish to skip recalculating a flock, simply uncheck the "recalculate" option and it will be skipped. You can manage this feed plan from the flock itself.
Clicking "Cancel" will return you to the additive program form without pushing the recalculate. When this is clicked, you are prompted to confirm that you would like to cancel the push. You cannot return to this screen once you leave it- you will have to change the program and save again, or open each flock's feed plan and recalculate them.
Once you have reviewed their checked flocks and clicked "Accept" the form will queue and recalculate them. This is an asynchronous process, but you will need to remain on this dialog until it completes. In fact, attempting to click "Cancel" will inform you of this, if you have already begun the recalculate.
There is a need to stay on the dialog because we are updating many feed plans for many flocks, and we will need to wait to receive message results. If all flocks process without messages, the form will close and return you to the program screen. Should any messages be produced for any of the flocks, they will appear on a separate screen for your review, grouped by the flock that produced them.
These are the same messages you will see when regenerating from the flock form. Make note of the flocks in these messages and resolve any errors from their respective feed plans.
