Aeros VISION Optimizing Query Data Model

With the Aeros ERP database, there are many tables and many columns. When creating Aeros VISION queries, all table/column objects associated with the query’s Data Model are displayed on the left in the Entities Section.

By default, each time a query is opened for editing, all tables and columns are displayed whether the query is referencing each table or not. This takes up real estate as well as uses un-necessary resources.

Aeros VISION has included optimization features to make your VISION queries and Data Models easier to view and understand, as well as improve performance.

Pre-Requisites

  1. It is recommended that you have a basic understanding of creating VISION Queries and Data Models.

Step-by-Step Guide

To Optimize an Existing Query Data Model:

  1. Log into Aeros VISION

  2. Select the query to be optimized and click the pencil icon.

   3. Verify that tables and columns to be used in query, are selected and added to the columns section. Additional tables and columns can be added after optimization if necessary.

    4. On the top menu bar, select Optimize icon.

    5. In the Entities section, only the tables used within the query should now be displayed. A popup box showing ‘Success – Data Model Optimized’ will be displayed. Click OK.

    6. On the menu bar, click the green Save button in the Data Model menu section to save the optimization.

    7. Click Yes on the Confirm Save popup box that appears.

    8. Click Exit to close the query after saving optimization.

    9. In the Aeros VISION query list box, re-open the optimized query by clicking on the pencil icon to edit.

    10. In the columns section, check to see that all previous joins and table relationships are still intact. If {unrecognized attribute} is showing, click on it. (there may be more than one, so click on each to correct broken relationship)

    11. When you click on { unrecognized attribute}, a list of tables that are part of the Optimized Data Model will be displayed.

    12. Select the correct table and column associated with the unrecognized attribute.

    13. Click on the Red Save button in the Query menu section.

    14. Click Run Query to verify the query works as expected.

    15. Click Exit

    16. In the Aeros VISION main screen, click on Settings on menu bar.

    17. Select Manage Data Models/Connections

    18. Scroll down to the word Model. Here you will see your optimized Data Model listed.

    19. The optimized Data Model can be re-used for additional queries. Keep in mind that ANY CHANGES to the optimized Data Model will affect ALL queries and reports that are referencing this Data Model.
