Managing Object Security

Objects

An "Object" in Vision is one of the following components:

• Queries

• Reports

• Dashboards

• Financials Line Groups

• Financials Column Groups

• Financials Report Groups

Can Run / Can Edit

Each of these objects can be secured by User as to whether the Can Edit or Can Run the selected Object.

If the user Can Edit, they CAN also Run.
If the user only has the Can Run permission, they can NOT edit the object.

New Queries / Reports / Dashboards / Financials

When a new Object is created, by default the user creating the object is automatically granted Can Edit and Can Run permissions.

They will then need to explicitly give access to the different users.

Granting User Permissions

1. Open the Query / Report / Dashboard / Financials you wish to give permissions to.
   
   
   

2. Click the Permissions button.
   On Queries, Reports, Dashboards, this is located in the top ribbon bar next to the Save/Exit buttons.
   On Financials, this is located at the bottom of the window, next to the Save/Exit button. 
   
   The Permissions screen will appear:
   
   

   Open

   

    
   All users that have been granted access to Aeros Vison will appear.
   
   
   

3. Next to each user, click on the Can Read or Can Edit checkbox.
   As soon as you check/uncheck the box, the permission is saved.
   There is no Save button as the changes immediately take effect.
    

4. Click the Close button.
   
   Note: If the user is currently logged in, the can click on the Tools / Settings drop-down and select Refresh Permissions.
