Report Filters - Cycle and Age

This article documents the report filter and age options available on the house dataset report parameters in step number eight of the report wizard.

Flock Cycle and Age Filters

 Cycle Filters

Cycle selections can be chosen independently of each other and in conjunction with each other as well as the age selections to further refine the data that shows up on the reports. As with all other report filters, if selected they will limit what ends up on the report but are more powerful in that they do not merely remove the flock from the report. It can actually pick the time frame the flock will show up on a report. For illustration purposes lets follow the affects the cycle age filters can have on the following flock.

The subject flock is 125 weeks old and was moved from a pullet barn into a layer barn at 16 weeks of age. The flock was capitalized at 18 weeks of age, went into a molt cycle #1 for six weeks at the age of 60 weeks and molt cycle #2 at 100 weeks. The multi week single flock report with a three year date range will be used in the following examples.

PC – Prior to Cap

Selecting this filter will limit the report to those flocks that do not meet the age of capitalization. If a user chose all facilities only those flocks that had birds under the age of capitalization would show up on the report. We would expect to see all pullet flocks and only those layer flocks that were under the age of cap to be represented on the report during the report’s start and end dates. Capitalization age is chosen on a flock-by-flock basis (controlled on the production tab of the flock form). So if the report’s start date was chosen before the above flock’s age of capitalization the report would include the above layer flock for all weeks between the date of placement and the date of capitalization.

C1 – Cycle 1

Selecting this filter will only show those layer flocks between the ages after capitalization up until entering molt. So the flock above would have data for each week between the ages of 18 weeks up to 60 weeks of age.

M1 – Molt 1

Selecting this filter will show those layer flocks that are within the six weeks of the first molt cycle. The flock above would have a line of data for each week within the Molt 1 six week cycle starting at age 61 up to 67 weeks of age – controlled through the molt start and molt end dates found on the molt cycles tab of the recordkeeping form.

C2 – Cycle 2

Selecting this filter will omit all data prior to second cycle. No activity during pre-capitalization, first cycle or molt cycle will be represented on the report. In the case of our example flock the report will show weekly activity starting at age 67 and terminating till the start of molt cycle number 2 at 100 weeks of age.

M2 – Molt 2

Selecting this filter will show those layer flocks that are within the second molt cycle. The example flock would show activity starting at age 100 and will accumulate data until the age of 106 weeks of age – controlled through the molt start and molt end dates found on the molt cycles tab of the recordkeeping form.

C3 – Cycle 3

Selecting this final filter will show those layer flocks that are within the third production cycle. The example flock would show activity starting at age 106 to the current age of 125 weeks of age.

If no filters are chosen all data will be included for the flock, however if PC and C1 are chosen only the data that fell within those two periods of the life of the flock will be included on the report. The filters can be used together to include and/or exclude data on reports that may help provide analysis of special circumstances, such as a report that shows all non-productive days of a layer flock while in the layer barn - a user could select PC and  M1, as the report example below.

Age Filters

The age options below the cycle filters can be used to show data that fell within a particular age range. In the example below I wanted a report that would show a multi week single flock report for the ages between 28 and 40. *** Please note that if age parameters are utilized the units in days or weeks must be entered as well as the type of age – period end or exact.  The report will return with nothing and at this time no report wizard validations will appear to prompt user to fill these fields in on the wizard.

The report below has ages within the ages in weeks as defined above.
