Summary:
This article documents the ability to store Agri Stats plant number’s in AIM. The plant numbers are then made available in the report designer in all data sets allowing for their inclusion in reports and data extracts generated from AIM for purposes of meeting weekly and monthly Agri Stats data requirements. There are two locations in which the Agri Stats plant number can be included in AIM including the “Group” and “Farm” forms. The reporting module has the calculation available in all data sets available in AIM and can be included on reports.
System Type
The Agri Stats plant numbers will be housed as a system type found in the system settings of AIM. This will allow for the insertion of reliable plant numbers controlled by a select number of people with the highest of security settings. In addition to the security setting limiting the number of people with access the object relation control of AIM will help control the ability to select a limited amount of applicable Agri Stats plant numbers within each group form.
Not unlike most forms within AIM the user simply adds a code taking care to include the Agri Stats plant code as the description rather than the code. In this case the description is being picked up within the data set calculations. This should be done by Agri Stats personnel or at least with the guidance of Agri Stats.
Farm Form
The farm form is the first form in which the plant number can be included. In so doing, any group that is created within the farm will include the plant number. The plant number is editable on the group form so flexibility is allowed for groups within the same farm that can migrate from one plant number to another. For example some plant codes within Agri Stats can be set up for similar groups participating in special feeding programs rather than a physical location. For some clients a farm can produce groups with special feeding program for a time and then change as market conditions demand.
Group Form
Ultimately because groups from farms can often change in regards to their affiliation within Agri Stats the ability to edit this field is important. The field will flow from the farm form as described above. The screenshot below shows where the plant code is housed.
Report Calculations
Within each of the data sets the two fields have calculations that will allow them to be included in reports.
The two calculation fields reside within the Field list of the report writer as seen in the blow up below. The two calculation fields are “AgriStats_FarmPlantCode” and “AgriStats_GroupPlantCode”. Inclusion of these codes on reports generated from AIM will help Agri Stats auditors know where the flock belongs for manual insertion as well as a stable field that data conversions can key from to bring in data.
A special weekly layer report, shown below, shows how the insertion of the plant code can be used for data extracts from AIM to Agri Stats that can be easily converted into Agri Stats input systems.
The preferred data format for Agri Stats extracts from AIM applications are “csv” files with the UTF-8 encoding option and a pipe “|” as the delimiter. Just run the report using the normal applicable parameters and follow the procedure below:
Save the file as a CSV file.
Select the “UTF-8” Text export mode: Type in the “|” found above the enter key for the text selector.
Save the file onto your machine and attach the file to an email to Agri Stats or include in your normal FTP transfer of data.
