Feed Medications, Nutrients, Ingredients and Ingredients Additives can be set up through the Feed Components screen.  Once set up on this screen, the components are used in formulas.  This allows you to set up the pricing information for all types of feed, apply the items to formulas, and the software can then decipher how much was paid for each item based on the dates the pricing is applied.

Details

  • Component Code.  The corresponding Component Code.  Component Codes must be unique.
  • Component Name. The corresponding Component Name.
  • Reference.  Another way in which to identify component codes.
  • Component Type. Select a Component Type from the drop down.  Component Types can be set up in the System Types tab within the System Settings.
  • Status.  Whether the component is currently active or inactive.  This field will default to the system default of Active.
  • Start Date. In addition to being able to define a component code's status the code may be further defined by its start date.
  • End Date. In addition to the status and start date, a component code may have an ending date which will further define when a component code can be utilized.

If Feed Additive Component Type is selected, additional information can be entered.  Is this additive a Medication?  Is a prescription required for this?  Provide the Medication Type and Generic Name for the Additive.  Medication Types can be set in System Settings.

  • Default Unit Type. When using default prices the unit type for component codes must be assigned.
  • Default Unit Price.  The system's default price for the corresponding component code, utilized when effective price list can not be found.
  • Default Vendor. The vendor from which the component is purchased.
  • Default Expense Code. Component codes are assigned to an expense code.

The user can also add comments about the Feed Components. To add a new comment, the user will enter their comments in thethe Comments text box and click the Save button.The grid below will display a history of comments made.  The user that added the comment and the date created or modified will be recorded.
